Waste vegetable oil has become a hot commodity, as biodiesel and other oil-based products have increased in value. Unfortunately, with every valuable product – especially those stored outside – comes the unwanted attention of thieves. While one can make a pretty penny on waste vegetable oil (WVO), stealing the product can be far more costly. In this blog, we’ll discuss the costs of cooking oil crime and how to prevent your business from falling victim to these thefts. [Read more…]

The Future of Biodiesel and Biofuel
What is biofuel? Biofuel is one of the many new waves of green energy. It’s created through a process called transesterification, which takes waste vegetable oil (WVO) and converts it into a petro-fuel or diesel alternative. Over the past few years, use of this vegetable-based biofuel has only increased, and is actually very valuable, often attracting thieves. The reason for its high value is because it can be used so readily. Biofuel can be used to fuel machines on its own with a special engine, but it can also be used in petro-biofuel mixtures. These mixtures can be used in regular diesel engines, with no adjustments to the engine needed. That makes it not only clean, renewable, energy-efficient, and American-made, but convenient as well. There’s also evidence that it’s even safer than regular fuel! Learn more about the current and future of biodiesel and biofuel. [Read more…]
The Rise and Crime of WVO
Once it was only a liquid garbage that was horrendously illegal to dump down the drain, but now waste vegetable oil (known commercial as WVO) is a commodity (though still illegal to dump down the drain). Learn the history of cars running on vegetable oil, how WVO came of age, and how this hot commodity that was once garbage is now being stolen. [Read more…]
Green Oil: How Biodiesel is Made
The soaring prices of petroleum and the growing environmental concern to limit the exhaust emissions have led to the use of biodiesel as an alternative to diesel fuel for vehicles. Biodiesel has the potential to be one of the most successful alternative fuels because it can be used in all conventional diesel engines, without any modifications and for its many eco-friendly qualities.
